Sustainability

LynchPin works collectively to achieve the standards set out in the Theatre Green Book through parameters that reflect the reality of the climate crisis. We have read and understood the principles of the Theatre Green Book. We understand what this means for our practice, and what we can expect from, and ask of, our colleagues and collaborators.

LynchPin’s commitment to sustainability includes:

  • All props are pre-loved, repurposed, borrowed or upcycled and are stored for future use.

  • Costumes are pre-loved and stored for reuse, or hired.

  • All technical items have had a previous life and are maintained, stored and reused.

  • Any unavoidably new items are sourced with sustainability and the environment in mind.

  • Energy usage is reduced by switching off equipment whenever, and as soon as, possible.

  • Rehearsals are run using daylight whenever possible.

  • Board Meetings and AGMs are paperless.

  • Programmes are online with a few hard copies (re-used when possible) for those who can’t use a QR code.

  • All unavoidable in-house printing is on 100% recycled paper.

  • Outsourced printing of marketing materials by Instantprint, which uses 100% renewable energy and 100% FSC-accredited paper, and any plastic used in their packaging is derived from plants. Instantprint has been certified carbon neutral by Achilles Carbon Reduce.

  • Communications are almost exclusively paperless, while acknowledging that use of technology is not carbon free.

  • Company members are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks in reusable or compostable containers.

  • Plastics are reused, recycled or composted.

  • All paper and cardboard is recycled.

  • Materials and products which damage the environment are avoided wherever possible.

  • Deliveries are minimised and last minute deliveries avoided whenever possible.

  • LynchPin is diligent in its use and disposal of resources.
